The copy is tightly focused on the event — not a generic newsletter signup, not a brand introduction, but a specific invitation to a specific thing happening right now. After submitting, you’re taken directly to the sale collection. The promise is made, the promise is kept, and the friction between interest and purchase is as low as it can be.

The list segmentation value here is worth noting. A signup captured through a sale-specific form tells you something meaningful about that subscriber. That’s useful data for future segmentation and targeting.

Ulla Johnson: the generic route

Ulla Johnson’s implementation uses a standard newsletter signup form — the same one that appears across the site regardless of context. The copy doesn’t reference the sale. After signup, visitors are redirected to new arrivals rather than the sale collection, which means anyone who came specifically for the sale has to navigate there themselves.

The result is a broken experience. The expectation set by the gated sale isn’t cleanly delivered. The extra navigation step is small, but small friction in e-commerce compounds.
